Traditional Cotswold Housing in Stow

Building Truly Affordable Housing for Local People

We are pleased to welcome you to our website and to explain who we are, as well as our principal objectives, and to show how you can help us provide Truly Affordable Housing (TAH) to meet the specific needs of our local community.

(Clicking on any underlined text on this website will take you the relevant page or another website, as appropriate.)

As you know, Stow-on-the-Wold is a renowned historic town in a National Landscape (formerly referred to as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). However, the sustainability of our town is affected by a serious lack of truly affordable housing that is accessible to local people in Stow on low to moderate incomes.

In 2016, our first Chairman, Peter Minty, and the then Mayor, Ben Eddolls, resolved to take action to overcome this problem.  They and other like-minded townspeople formed the Stow Community Land Trust (Stow CLT), which is a member of the National Community Land Trust Network.

Stow CLT’s principal objective, therefore, is to tackle head-on the need for TAH, prioritising local people, key workers and the rural skills sector (e.g. skilled craftsmen, agricultural workers, nurses, teachers - click here to see a comprehensive list) to safeguard the future social and economic well-being of Stow.

A copy of our brochure can be found here.
