Providing Truly Affordable Housing for Local People

Welcome to the website of the
Stow Community Land Trust
We are pleased to welcome you to our website and to introduce you to the Stow Community Land Trust - who we are, our principal objective, our aims, and to explain how you can help us to provide Truly Affordable Housing (TAH) to meet the specific needs of our local community.
(Clicking on any underlined text on this website will take you the relevant page or another website, as appropriate.)
As you know, Stow-on-the-Wold is a renowned historic town in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. However, the sustainability of our town is affected by a serious lack of truly affordable housing that is accessible to local people in Stow on low to moderate incomes.
In 2016, our Chairman Peter Minty and the then Mayor, Ben Eddolls, resolved to take action to overcome this problem. They and other like-minded townspeople formed the Stow Community Land Trust (Stow CLT), which is a member of the National Community Land Trust Network.
Stow CLT’s principal objective, therefore, is to tackle the need for TAH head-on, prioritising local people, key workers and the rural skills sector to safeguard the future social and economic well-being of Stow.

News and Updates
Stow Town Council is in the process of finalising the Neighbourhood Plan. This is a vitally important document that will help shape the future of this town with regard to any new development. It is a major opportunity for all residents to have their say.
Informal public consultations have been organised for 16 June from 2.00 pm to 8.00 pm at St Edward's Hall and 18 June from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm at Stow Social Club.
More details can be found on the council's website.
The Board congratulates Cllr Jenny Scarsbrook on being elected Chairman of Stow TC. She takes over from Cllr Alun White who has been Chairman for several years. Both continue many years of loyal service to the town and are great supporters of the CLT, which is much appreciated.
Sad News and Glad News
Peter Minty, our former Chairman and a co-founder has had to step down from this role for personal reasons, though he will continue as Board member, so his wealth of contacts and experience will not be lost.
We are pleased, however, that Ben Eddolls, well-known local businessman, former Mayor, and co-founder of the CLT, has agreed to take over this vital role.
Stow Town Council has again made a grant of £500 to the CLT. This will cover our running costs for the coming financial year. The Council's continuing support is greatly appreciated.
Great news! Stow CLT has been awarded a grant of just over £800 from Gloucestershire Rural Community Council to pay for the creation of this website and printing of the Brochure. This is greatly appreciated.
