Providing Truly Affordable Housing for Local People

Welcome to the website of the

Stow Community Land Trust

We are pleased to welcome you to our website and to introduce you to the Stow Community Land Trust - who we are, our principal objective, our aims, and to explain how you can help us to provide Truly Affordable Housing (TAH) to meet the specific needs of our local community.

(Clicking on any underlined text on this website will take you the relevant page or another website, as appropriate.)

As you know, Stow-on-the-Wold is a renowned historic town in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. However, the sustainability of our town is affected by a serious lack of truly affordable housing that is accessible to local people in Stow on low to moderate incomes.

In 2016, our Chairman Peter Minty and the then Mayor, Ben Eddolls, resolved to take action to overcome this problem.  They and other like-minded townspeople formed the Stow Community Land Trust (Stow CLT), which is a member of the National Community Land Trust Network.

Stow CLT’s principal objective, therefore, is to tackle the need for TAH head-on, prioritising local people, key workers and the rural skills sector to safeguard the future social and economic well-being of Stow.
